Second post of the day, patron Goddess

Greetings to all the witches out there.
Today it was kind of hectic witch-wise. I did three banishing rituals(all of them truly needed because it has been one of those days..)and two love attractive ones, plus i also set an altar in my living room. I used to use my desk whenever i had a ritual and a library shelf as a permanent altar. I was waiting to find a rock or a cylindric piece of wood but i had an extra old table hanging around these days and i thought it was time for my altar to take its rightful place. Since yesterday i could n't celebrate Imbolc except for the making(and eating of course) of a festive milky potato soup, i celebrated today. I made an ivy wreath with yellow and green ribons, and i left to Brigid an offering of milk. I asked for Her guidance, love and light.
For some time now, i have been thinking of dedicating myself to Her and accept Her as my patron Goddess. It has always been Her. I never doubted that. But in Wicca the timing is very important and i want to feel the right moment. So i am waiting. Have you chosen, or better yet, have you been chosen by a specific deity to worship?

Inanna is my patron Goddess. As far as "timing" goes....the time is right when your heart is ready. The day on the calender is meaningless.

Brigid has always been my goddess. To me, she is a very powerful goddess. Christianity was a powerful religion and was slowing taking over, but they could not destroy Her so they made Her into a saint. I can relate to other goddesses also, but Brigid is my pillar of strength.

I am still searching! Rather, I'm still waiting and listening for the Goddess to maker Her name known to me. Currently I'm drawn to Sophia, a Christian goddess (doesn't that sound weird?!), and also to Dana, a Mother Goddess to the Celts. But, when it comes to dedicating myself to a "specific" goddess, I don't see the necessity (for myself), for they are all Goddess, the feminine of Deity (at least, that's how I view it.)

I agree with inannastar, the right time is written in your heart and how you choose to celebrate is your choice as long as you are respectful.

She is my patron Goddess as well though it took me some time to come to that realization. Years actually. It actually hit me shortly after I got pregnant with my daughter. I was really up on Goddesses in the Irish pantheon and when I got to her it was like my body was electrified and I just knew. It is a beautiful thing when you find what you are looking for especially when you didn't even know you were seeking it.

Persephone all the way for me!

Brigid is lovely and such a wonderful time of the year BUT timing for dedication is in the heart as timing on the spiritual plane is not bound by the linear constraints that we adhere to.

Now you have chosen, take the next step. Will you be writing dedication vows?

Excellent progress re: your altars. Sounds lovely ♥

Artemis. She came through very strongly during a meditation.

I never know...it seems like sometimes there is someone right and then at other times it is someone completly different and for different reasons...but at the time i feel stronly about them. Does thas make and sense?
Maybe the clue is that I do change so much, or that my goddesses are never the same...
can you have more than one? Or is that just a dumb question?
wow..time for some soul searching!!

diet recipes? i am doing that myself right now! it depends on what you like to eat. i just made a batch of hummus and babaganoush. i eat them both when i diet. my biggest diet food is roasted vegetables served on rice with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. i also eat lots of soup.

hmmmm...where did the word "babaganoush" come from?

Brighid is my patron Goddess. In fact, she came to me the first time I meditated after starting on this spiritual path.

And again the second time.
And again the third time.

After that, I got the hint. LOL

that is so funny. in america, hummus and babaganoush are always thought of as greek food. all the greek restaurants serve them and the grocery stores all carry both of them too. of course, unless you live in a big city like new york, no one really understands turkish food.

I can't say I have a Goddess in name though if I identify with any it is Gaia :-)

There are some aspects of the Goddess and the God that I feel more comfortable with. Both Brigid and Hestia are dear to me, though Hestia is closer than before, maybe because right now I don't my own home, she's taking acre of this side of me... Cernunnos & the Greenman are the god aspect that are really in touch with my soul as well. But this is something ver free for me. Most times I like going straight to the "bosses".
